A home insulation fund worth more than $300 million will be available.  TV One News said the Government was going to spend more than $300 million over the next four years and grants would be available for houses built before 2000.

A grant would pay for about a third of the cost and the other two-thirds could be loaned by banks, power companies or councils.  Grants will be available to all private home owners, no income testing and it would not have to be paid back.

The Government is targeting up to 900,000 homes and each one will be offered a grant of up to $1500.
